Companies and organizations of all kinds and sizes are relying more and more on multimedia to assist with communication, marketing, and information content creation. As such, they need those who are able to help them establish the audio visual systems that allow them to do that. That’s what the role of the audio visual systems designer is.

To put it simply, the main responsibility of the audio visual systems designer is to develop, install, and implement audio visual systems. Effectively, this means being aware of the AV hardware and software market and choosing the components that fit together to meet the broadcasting, streaming, and recording needs of the employer or client.

In audio visual systems design, the precise day-to-day of the job can change depending on the size of the employer or client, their tech needs, and how much budget they’re willing to put together to meet them.

Although not always necessary, a bachelor’s or associate's degree in fields related to AV design and engineering is widely preferred. This can be anything from multimedia operations to live event production to video production.
